THE PS3 CELL SERIES

The ampKRAFT PS3 Series provides professional-grade LiPo pouch cells for UAV battery pack assembly, OEM manufacturing, and turnkey production line integration. All five cells share the same 70.5mm width and 3.6V nominal cell voltage, allowing consistent pack tooling and assembly processes across both the 125mm and 170mm cell formats.

The 125mm Series covers capacities from 10,600mAh to 16,000mAh nominal, suited for compact and mid-range pack designs. The 170mm Series covers 19,200mAh and 21,200mAh nominal, delivering higher capacity and higher continuous discharge current for heavy-payload and high-power pack architectures. All cells support 15C continuous and 20C burst discharge, with continuous current ranging from 165A to 330A depending on cell capacity.

BUILT FOR PACK ASSEMBLY

Professional UAV battery pack assembly requires cells with consistent specifications, low internal resistance, and full production traceability. The PS3 Series is manufactured under ampKRAFT’s proprietary vertically integrated process, with full control over cell chemistry, materials, and quality at the source.

All PS3 cells use LiPo pouch cell construction. The soft pack format eliminates the rigid metal casing of cylindrical cells, delivering a higher energy-to-weight ratio and better thermal distribution across the cell surface under high-current discharge. The consistent tab dimensions across the 125mm and 170mm formats simplify welding process setup for multi-format production lines.

Discharge temperature range is -20°C to +60°C across all PS3 cells, with AC impedance of ≤2.5 mΩ for the four higher-capacity cells and ≤3.0 mΩ for the entry-level 11000mAh cell. Every production batch is fully traceable, and custom tab configurations and volume supply are available on request.

What is the difference between the 125mm and 170mm PS3 cell formats?

The PS3 Series uses two cell formats defined by their length: 124.5mm (125mm Series) and 169mm (170mm Series). Both share the same 70.5mm width and 3.6V nominal voltage. The 125mm format covers 10,600mAh to 16,000mAh nominal at 136g to 206g per cell. The 170mm format covers 19,200mAh and 21,200mAh nominal at 247g and 272g per cell. The 170mm cells also deliver significantly higher continuous discharge current, from 300A to 330A at 15C, compared to 165A to 250A for the 125mm cells. For pack designs constrained to a shorter cell length, the 125mm format is the appropriate choice. For maximum capacity and current output per cell, the 170mm format delivers both.

Start with the available cell bay dimensions in your airframe to determine whether the 125mm or 170mm format fits. Then select capacity based on your pack’s energy requirement per cell, and verify that the continuous discharge current meets your motor and ESC specification at the planned series configuration. All PS3 cells share the same tab dimensions and 70.5mm width, which means the mechanical assembly process stays consistent across capacity tiers. Our engineering team can support cell selection and pack design from the initial specification through qualification testing.

All PS3 cells share the same tab dimensions of 35.0 ±2.0mm × 25.0 ±0.2mm. Tab thickness is 0.2 ±0.02mm for the FBC7871125PS3 and 0.3 ±0.02mm for all four larger cells. This distinction is relevant for welding process parameters, as the thinner tab of the entry-level cell requires adjusted settings to avoid damaging the electrode foil. For production lines assembling both cell types, separate process recipes are needed for the two tab thickness variants.

Yes. All PS3 cells are compatible with any series or parallel configuration. The most common configurations in the PS3 soft pack range are 6S1P at 21.6V nominal, 6S2P at 21.6V with doubled capacity, and 8S1P at 28.8V nominal. Higher series counts are technically feasible and can be discussed with our engineering team for specific project requirements.

Yes. PS3 cells are the cell foundation for ampKRAFT’s turnkey battery production solutions. Customers establishing their own production capacity can source PS3 cells directly from ampKRAFT as part of the turnkey package, with full supply chain integration from cell delivery through automated pack assembly. For OEM customers assembling packs independently, volume cell supply with consistent batch specifications and full traceability is available on request.
